Our Statement of Purpose
Martello House is a purpose built spacious and comfortable environment which is both homely and community based, registered with Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW), providing residential care and support for eight service users’ with autism and learning disabilities who have additional complex needs.
These needs may be because of challenging behaviour, co-occuring disorders, forensic histories or other issues. The support available from Martello House will be from a highly skilled workforce to guide and set in place appropriate interventions that are not only effective but also socially valid.
We will utilise person centred approaches to enable the service user to have a support plan that is based around their unique needs and aspirations. Where a service user has complex issues we will also use positive approaches to achieve a balance between what is important to them and for them.
Our ultimate aim is to support a service user to achieve a lifestyle that maximises their community presence and use of ordinary community facilites. It is only by achievement of this aim that we can find a lifestyle and level of skilled support for a service users future.
We welcome the involvement of all significant people in a service users life to be a part of their support network. We will involve those people in a service users life when ever possible (with the service users permission) and believe this is key to a quality lifestyle.
Our Facilities
There are 8 studio rooms each with their own bed, dining table, settee, comfy chair and wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside drawer, coffee table and ensuite bathroom with a wet room.
There are 3 kitchens, two of which are domestic and the third is an excellent training kitchen. We have 4 lounges so there are plenty of areas for time to relax. We also have a communication room, use of computers/ internet and smaller meeting room.
The unit is within walking distance of the centre of Pembroke Dock and is also on the bus route making it easy to accommodate visitors and service users.
