Surehaven Drumchapel Hospital
Surehaven is pleased to announce that the programme of works on a new Independent Low Secure Hospital in Drumchapel commenced on 20/04/2009. The hospital will accommodate seventeen patients aged between 18 to 65 with a primary diagnosis of mental illness some of whom are liable to be detained under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Scotland Act 2003. The new service is due to open in the Spring 2010.
Our Facilities
The hospital will be a 17 bedded unit split into 2 gender specific wards, one ward with 9 ensuite rooms and one with 8 ensuite rooms. It is superbly designed to maximize communal and living space for the patients as well as providing activitiy rooms for the facilitation of therapeutic programmes. Each ward has its own community lounge, dining room and quiet room as well as access to its own secure garden, one of which has a hard surface recreational area for patients sporting activities. Designated external smoking areas are provided. The hospital is on the bus route making it easy to accommodate visitors and authorised leave for patients within the local community. For visitors there is a visitor’s room, a separate visitor’s garden and a specific area set aside for children’s visits. Safety and security is paramount within this environment and the building specification has been designed to meet the requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Low Secure Hospitals while retaining a more homely style of environment.
Our Team
Surehaven will be recruiting a first class multi disciplinary team to provide the highest quality support and treatment. This includes a full time Consultant Psychiatrist, a full time Consultant Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist, a full time Occupational Therapist and a full time Activities Coordinator and Nursing staff all of whom will be directly employed by Surehaven.
