Healthcare Improvement Scotland was established in April 2011. Part of their role is to undertake inspections of independent healthcare services across Scotland. Their inspectors check that independent healthcare services are complying with necessary standards and regulations. They do this by carrying out assessments and inspections. These inspections may be announced or unannounced.
Healthcare Improvement Scotland has published its report relating to an announced inspection visit to Surehaven Glasgow. The inspection visit took place on Wednesday 21 September 2011.
Each service is graded under Quality Themes and Quality Statements. HIS may not assess all Quality Themes and Quality Statements. They do not give one overall grade for an inspection.
They grade each heading as follows:
6 Excellent
5 Very Good
4 Good
3 Adequate
2 Weak
1 Unsatisfactory
Based on the findings of this inspection, our service was awarded the following grades:
Quality Theme 1 - Quality of care and support: 4 - Good
Quality Theme 2 - Quality of environment: 4 - Good
Quality Theme 3 - Quality of staffing: 4 – Good
Garry Walker, Hospital Manager at Surehaven Glasgow commented “The staff at Surehaven Glasgow have worked extremely hard to maintain high standards of care for all of our patients since opening in late June 2010. The positive feedback from the HIS inspection team is very supportive and encouraging and, importantly, the comments of our patients reflects the endeavours of our dedicated skilled staff”.
